MERR to host annual Finraiser on Saturday, Nov. 8
Some of the best that Delaware has to offer will be available for bidding at the annual Finraiser, on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Salero oceanfront venue atop the Henlopen Hotel in Rehoboth Beach.
The premiere fundraising event for the Marine Education, Research, and Rehabilitation (MERR) Institute, the Finraiser is an opportunity to celebrate with food, music, wine-tasting, and getting a jump on holiday gift-giving while supporting local marine mammal and sea turtle rescue and research.
Attendees can choose from a number of exciting items from Delaware businesses available for bidding. From fine art pieces and home goods to pet items and travel packages, this year features an array of opportunities to get an early jump on holiday shopping.
“The Finraiser is our biggest celebration of the year,” said MERR Executive Director Suzanne Thurman. “It’s a chance for us to share all our hard work and efforts throughout the year in a fun, exciting evening that also serves as one of our biggest fundraisers that help us fund our efforts in the future.”
The event will feature live music from local favorite 33 ⅓ playing classic rock hits. In addition, a bevy of wine selections from Bin 66 will be poured by celebrity bartenders. The evening will feature live and silent auctions, an array of hors d’oeuvres, coffee and desserts, and an opportunity to celebrate with members of the MERR Stranding Team.

“This year marks MERR’s 25th Anniversary, so the finraiser is particularly meaning this year,” Thurman said. “It’s a great way to reflect on all of MERR’s efforts throughout the years in a celebratory manner.”
Tickets for the event are $100 and are available to purchase through MERR’s website at merrinstitute.org. Proceeds from the event go toward the rescue and research of marine mammals and sea turtles in Delaware.
Tickets are still available, but there is a limited number and the event has sold out in the past.
