What is a stranding?:
When a marine mammal or sea turtle is sick, injured, entangled, or deceased, it is considered stranded. The MERR Institute is Delaware's official stranding response organization, and provides emergency rescue and veterinary treatment for sea turtles that are living, and conducts research on those that have died so that we can learn more about the animal, the cause of the stranding, and ocean health.  MERR is on call 24/7 to provide emergency rescue for marine animals in need.
