MERR had the pleasure of hosting two wonderful, enthusiastic interns this past summer: Bella Silvaggio and Alexis Brown.
Both women coincidentally attend the University of Vermont and have interests in the environment and wildlife.
They participated in a few strandings throughout their tenure, worked the educational Dolphin Cruises, and photographed our local dolphin population for our Dolphin Photo ID project. They also helped collect our data, including the annual Dolphin Count, where they learned the importance of data collection in marine life conservation.

Bella is a determined athlete with a passion for statistics and conservation. Alexis is an easygoing animal lover and conservation enthusiast, as well. Bella and Alexis were a joy to have around, hard working, and loved heading out to photograph the dolphins.
They were huge helping hands, from menial tasks like gathering water for our turtle’s tank, to stranding responses in blistering heat. We wish them the best of luck in their future adventures!
