¿QUÉ HACE MERR?
MERR está disponible las 24 horas del día, los 7 días de la semana para brindar rescate y atención a los mamíferos marinos y las tortugas marinas que puedan estar enfermos, heridos, enredados o necesitados de otra manera. Además, llevamos a cabo investigaciones sobre los animales que han muerto para que podamos obtener información sobre el animal, la causa de la muerte, más sobre la especie y la salud del océano. Contribuimos con esta información a entidades federales, estatales y locales, así como a investigadores y otros en el campo de la conservación marina. MERR lleva a cabo programas de educación y divulgación en todo el estado sobre el tema de la ecología y la conservación de los mamíferos marinos y las tortugas marinas. Creemos que la educación es la clave más importante para la conservación.
MERR'S ANNUAL WHALE OF A YARD SALE 5/18/24
Join us at the MERR facility on Saturday, May 18, starting at 8 a.m. for our annual yard sale fundraiser, featuring items for the home and garden. All funds raised during the event will go to the year-round efforts of the non-profit organization, which serves as the first response to all marine mammals and sea turtles stranding in Delaware, including food and care, veterinary bills, transportation, and supplies.
MERR also hosts a number of outreach endeavors in which representatives travel to area schools to inform students about the neighboring marine mammals.
The yard sale is one of the major fundraisers for the organization, and will also feature a bake sale and refreshments throughout the day. The yard sale at the MERR facility, located at 801 Pilottown Road, next to the Coast Guard Station, will take place rain or shine.
